Get Involved

Below is an up-to-date list of opportunities to get more involved with the club. We hope you will jump in and volunteer for a position or to host an event. It is a wonderful way to meet more people and help us make the club the best resource possible for you and the rest of our club members. Thanks in advance!

Board and Committee Positions

We are looking for a few more club members to help us make this year a big success. The currently open board and committee positions are described below. The positions in bold we especially need to fill as soon as possible. Joining the board or a committee is a great way to get involved in the club and make some great new friends. If you are interested in learning more about any of these positions or have suggestions for new club activities, please contact Julianna Kaden (781-431-6404 or jfkaden@msn.com) or Lesley Prowda (781-489-5253 or lprowda@comcast.net).

Bugle Co-Editor
Prepares newsletter in alternating months -- compiles information for newsletter and creates design and layout. The Bugle is created in Microsoft Word so only basic word processing skills are needed. This is a creative, collaborative position and a great way to learn about the club and get to know a lot of people. More editors are critical to our ability to continue to publish the newsletter.

Business Development Chair
Secures and handles advertising in The Bugle and the membership directory, coordinates co-sponsored events with local businesses and organizations.

Casual Cuisine
Contact: Molly Cote (237-1848) It is with great enthusiasm and hearty appetites that we are searching for hosts for our events! The Co-Chairs will do all of the coordination with attendees before and during the event. A theme is chosen and then it is potluck and BYOB to share. It would be delectable if interested hosts could seat 20-25 people (not necessarily at formal tables with chairs) at one time. Dates are somewhat flexible and dependent on other Newcomers' Club Activities already scheduled. Please call Molly if you are up for opening your home to friends who will be supplying an abundance of great food, wine and conversation!

Community Service Co-Chairs(2)
Help plan and implement opportunities for members to participate in community outreach food and clothing drives, park clean-ups, holiday donations, etc. Coordinate social events where co-sponsor donates portion of proceeds to charity. May also help plan outreach to club members in need.

Family Events Committee Members
Assist with planning and coordination of weekend events for the whole family such as parties and special outings (see Family Events in the Activities section of the website for an idea of this year's events).

Social Events Committee Members
Social events volunteers help plan all of the major social events throughout the year (such as Wine Tasting, Oktoberfest, Game Night, and the Annual Clambake and Auction).  This is a big, fun, committee and a great way to meet other club members.

Auction Chair and Committee
Plan annual auction (solicit donations, prepare packages and materials for auction, work with Social Committee on event)

Membership Directory Committee
Committee helps write and design Membership Directory, lots of room for input and creativity.
