Newcomer Activities


Book Club
The book club is a lively group of people, both women and men, who meet on a monthly basis at one another's homes. We are informal and entirely welcoming, whether you have read one page or the entire book. Refreshments are served at each meeting. Financial aid is available for the entire cost of each book for anyone it would help be able to attend. Please come join us for one or all of the books! If you are able to host one month, you get to select that month's book! Please feel free to contact Laura Foody with any questions.No events presently planned


Casual Cuisine
Kick back and relax at this laid back evening event for adults! You'll bring a dish to share (home cooked or store bought!!) in keeping with the nights theme - BBQ, Italian, etc. and BYOB. Planned Events

Community Service
Community Service includes donations to the community and organizations for people in need through clothing and holiday gift drives as well as fundraising events. No events presently planned


Executive Board
The activities and operation of the Club are managed by its Executive Board. The Board meets regularly to coordinate and plan the Club's upcoming events.Planned Events

Family Activities
Family activities are weekend events suitable for the entire family. There are lots of exciting events planned for the upcoming year - starting with a Fall Family BBQ to kick off the year and ending with (hopefully) a bus trip to a Pawtucket Paw Sox Game. In between, we will be having a Halloween Party, Fire Station Tour, Chili Cook-off/Pre-Super Bowl Party, March Madness Basketball Game and Party, tour of TD BankNorth Garden, and Mini Golf. Golf and Tennis
The Newcomers' Club runs a winter tennis ladder and a summer golf league. Be sure to subscribe to this activity to receive all the details via email. No events presently planned


Hospitality
The role of this group is to extend a personal welcome to every new member family during the course of the membership year. We do this by preparing/delivering welcome gifts throughout the year and coordinating New Women Member nights twice a year. No events presently planned


International
The international group meets on a monthly basis, meeting at coffee shops in Wellesley during the day and organising pot-luck dinners with an international flavour to them or sampling the fare of international type restaurants in the evenings.

Anyone who is an expatriate, an emigre, has links to other countries or those interested in getting to know people from different parts of the world are welcome!

Join our cultural melting pot, we look forward to sharing the international experience with you.

Men's Poker Night
Roughly once a month a group gets together for a night of poker. The stakes are kept below $100, and it's a friendly game. Formats of poker are set on a per session basis depending on participation and preferences of those playing. Planned Events

Stitch and... Chat!
Have you ever wished you could share the time you spend working on your stitchery project visiting with other women, and being inspired by their creativity? Then bring your needlework (knitting, needlepoint, cross stitch, etc.) and join us! No events presently planned


Wine & Dine

Wine and Dine brings people together who share an interest in meeting new friends, sampling great food and superb wine, and engaging in lively conversation. You needn't be a gourmet cook to participate. Recipes are easy and don't require hours in the kitchen! When planning the cookbook, we tried to make the recipes as easy as possible, and to use seasonal ingredients that are easy to find in local stores.

The Women's Events committee of the Newcomers' Club provides the opportunity for women new to Wellesley to meet in a variety of settings and participate in a range of activities. From informal moms' morning coffee get-togethers to formal teas at a French restaurant in Boston, this committee plans something for everyone. Other events include movie nights, an Oscar viewing party, evenings out at the theatre, shopping and spa outings and holiday recipe exchanges. Please join us!Planned Events
